Throwback Tuesday: 1990s Girl Group Xscape Reunites for A Nationwide Tour + Tour Dates

Pretty Ricky ain't the only ones 'round these parts cookin' up reunion tours. 1990's r&b girl group Xscape has reunited this summer at the 2017 BET Awards and is blessing their longtime fans with a nationwide tour kicking off this autumn. "The Great Xscape Tour" will start November 22nd in Richmond, Virginia and ends January 6th in Los Angeles (y'all know what state that's located in).

Xscape is known for their hit singles "Just Kickin' It" and "My Little Secret" and the amazing songwriting of members Kandi Burrus and Tameka "Tiny" Cottle. The ladies will be joined by Brandy's alleged enemy Monica and Tamar "Muppet" Braxton. All jokes aside, I think it's wonderful that Tamar Braxton and Monica are joining the tour because it's hard out here for Black women r&b singers.

In the past decade, r&b has been a suffering music genre with declining sales although newcomer singers like K. Michelle have been holdin' it down. It's important that singers and groups like Xscape create solidarity to keep this culture alive, especially since record companies will try their darndest to wipe out whatever is left of pure African American music.

I was a baby when Xscape was at their height so Destiny's Child, 3LW, Danity Kane, and (haha) the Pussycat Dolls were the girl groups I grew up on. However, anybody who knows me knows I loves me some old school music, especially music from the 1990's. With all the robotic trap beats, mumble rap, whisper singing, publicity stunts, watered down lyrics, gimmicks and overall mediocrity that consists of today's music, we need some soulful, throwback r&b to even everything out. I'm not even a fan of the group, but these ladies sure can sing their asses off and I love "Who Can I Run To" so I'm definitely trying to be all up in the mix with the aunties and mommas.
