Official "Black Panther" Cast Confirmed

The Marvel "Black Panther" film is set to be released February 16, 2018 and the crew just added the iconic Angela Basset to the legendary cast. The Ryan Coogler (Creed) directed film will star fine ass *waves fan and thinks about all his chocolate goodness* Chadwick Boseman alongside Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong'o, and Michael B. Jordan.

The film has a lot of people excited because it seems like it will be breaking barriers for Black people in the movie industry. The presence of dark skinned Black women playing lead roles, and a big studio film promoting Afro-futurism/Black comic book culture is a great look for this film. A lot of times, Hollywood seems to strictly produce and promote stereotypical comedy films to Black audiences, however within the last few years there has been a shift in the creation of Black media making way for films like "Black Panther".

"Black Panther" is also reported to be having a 90% Black cast including extras. In the past few years, there has been an abundance of uproar about Oscar snubs, creating the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag and overall pressure on Hollywood to open up more acting opportunities for people of color. Perhaps this upcoming film will create more opportunities for more Black people in the industry. Overall "Black Panther" seems like it's going to be a good movie. I'm a big comic movie fan (although I like DC Comics a bit more than Marvel, ha!) and I'm curious to see how it will all play out. Will you be watching in 2018?
