"The New Edition Story" Trailer (VIDEO)

Update: As of January 16, 2017, the film will be released on BET on January 24 8C/9E

Before there was B2K, B5, NSYNC or Backstreet Boys, there was New Edition, the model for the modern boy bands. This summer, the trailer for "The New Edition Story" released. Y'all already know I've been bored with the constant push of biopics, but this New Edition biopic looks damn good!

New Edition was a super popular, iconic boy band from the 1980's and 1990's serving the r&b world classic hit songs like "Candy Girl", "Can You Stand the Rain", "Cool It Now", and "If It Isn't Love". The group is also famous for setting a foundation for the solo careers of the well known singers Bobby Brown and Johnny Gill. As we know, Bobby Brown was all the hype back in the day, especially with the rise of the new jack swing genre taking the industry by storm in the late 1980's/early 1990's.

Now this biopic is a bit different from the ones we've been seeing recently. This will be a television series shown over three nights following the rise of the Boston, Massachusetts boy band. BET has their hands in this production, plus they actually have the rights to the music (*cough* Wendy Williams (cough* Aaliyah movie) so it's sure to be a treat.

From the looks of the trailer, it looks pretty amazing. From what I see the fashion is on point and accurate (y'all know how I am when it comes to accurately portraying historical fashion looks), the acting seems to be convincing based on the eras from the late 1970's to 1990's, and  the way it's filmed also looks great. Some of the cast includes Bryshere Gray who plays Hakim Lyon on "Empire", Lala Anthony, Monica Calhoun (Ebony from "The Player's Club"), Faizon Love, Duane Martin, Wesley Johnathan, and Michael Rapaport

The biopic is set to be released January 1, 2017. Take a look at the trailer below and tell us if you'll be watching!
